NASHVILLE, Tenn.-For the first time in the iconic band's history, Gold-selling, GRAMMY®-nominated Newsboys is set to bow a collection of favorite hymns. Hallelujah For The Cross (First Company Management/Capitol Christian Distribution) releases November 4 and features the group's take on nine classics and one new selection.
The project's title-cut and debut single, penned by Ross King and Todd Wright, is now available at iTunes and is currently impacting Christian radio across the country.
Produced by Seth Mosley-who helmed Newsboys' recent best-selling recordings God's Not Dead and Restart-additional highlights of Hallelujah For The Cross include "Jesus Paid It All"; "Holy, Holy, Holy"; "It Is Well"; and "All Creatures Of Our God And King." The album also features a new arrangement of Newsboys' "Where You Belong" with "Turn Your Eyes."
The band is currently headlining the 35-city fall "We Believe Tour," with special guests Family Force 5 and 7eventh Time Down. Kicking-off to sold-out crowds in the Memphis, Nashville, and Philadelphia markets last weekend, the tour is also slated to hit Dallas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Duluth, Minnesota; Rockford, Illinois; and Houston, among other cities, before concluding November 16 in Youngstown, Ohio.
With more than 8 million units sold, 33 #1 radio hits, four GRAMMY® nominations, multiple Dove Awards and five Gold records, among numerous other accolades, Newsboys is one of the most influential bands in Christian music today. Comprised of lead vocalist Michael Tait, Jody Davis (guitar), Jeff Frankenstein (keys) and Duncan Phillips (drums), the title-cut from the group's best-selling 2012 recording, God's Not Dead, topped the CHR chart for seven consecutive weeks and garnered an RIAA Gold certification. Newsboys' latest album, 2013's Restart, features the history-making #1 hit, "We Believe," which topped the Billboard Christian Music chart for 15 consecutive weeks to become the band's longest-running #1 single to date.
